About Me

I am an active Wilton Method Instructor at Michael's in Federal Way and Tukwila, WA. I created this blog to showcase my students' work, during and after their classes with me. It's a wonderful medium to share and exchange ideas expressed in cakes. Please feel free to share the pictures with your friends and relatives. We would love to receive your comments about these wonderful creations. Enjoy! If you have any questions, send me an email to: sweetnessinseattle@yahoo.com

October 2010 - Gum Paste & Fondant Final Cakes

This student had an "allergy" challenge so she had to be creative and use alternate ingredients free of corn, wheat, milk and eggs. She made her own fondant and gumpaste following the Wilton recipes but used alternate ingredients for some. We had a bit of consistency challenge in the beginning but she had to constantly try out a few tricks here and there to come up with something better. If you look at this cake, can you tell the difference? This only shows that if you are inspired, you can do anything including making a beautiful cake. I am very proud to be a part of this experiment. She goes to the website http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org/ for information on possible substitutions.
